Run Kelpie on your own servers

The Kelpie core is open source. Self-host it for free, with no record limits. You get the same CRM, API, and MCP server as Kelpie Cloud.

Install

You do not need to clone the repository. The scaffolder makes a new project in an empty directory.

  1. Make the project

    npm create kelpie@latest
  2. Install and start Postgres

    cd kelpie
    npm install
    docker compose up --detach --wait

Do you already have Postgres? Skip the Docker step.

  3. Start Kelpie

    npm run dev

Open http://localhost:5173/signup and make your workspace. Migrations apply when the server starts.

Set it up with an agent

Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or another coding agent can install Kelpie for you. Open your agent in an empty directory and give it this prompt.

Setup prompt
Set up a new Kelpie CRM project. Run `npm create kelpie@latest -- my-crm --yes` in an empty directory, then `cd my-crm && npm install`. If there is a `docker-compose.yml`, run `docker compose up --detach --wait`. Run `npm run dev` and confirm it is healthy: `http://localhost:5173/healthz` must return `{"status":"ok","database":"up"}`. Then tell me to open `http://localhost:5173/signup` to create my account and workspace. Report the result.

After the setup, connect your agent to Kelpie over MCP, and give it the Kelpie skill so it knows how to use the CRM. Connect an agent →
